In October 2007, Healthcare Ltd. (Fortis) entered into an agreement with Microsoft India Corporation Pvt. Ltd. (Microsoft) to harness the power of IT to spur its growth in the fast growing healthcare sector in India. Under the deal, Microsoft would deploy solutions that would increase productivity and knowledge management at Fortis. Microsoft India's solutions would make patient data readily available to all Fortis employees, which would lead to the healthcare chain providing better patient care and also allow it to focus on its core business activities.
